At the beginning of sophomore year, I was just a student, with no aspirations to start my own company or come up with the next idea that was going to change the world. A stupid event changed my thinking, and inspired me to start figuring out how to make a business come to life. A later post will be about that. The begininning of any startup, is an idea. There are many things in the life of your company that will come to be more important than your initial idea, but initially it is what everything you do stems from.
Often times people will be talking about very successful companies like facebook or google, and they'll say "why didn't I think of that", or they'll have another type of thought that warrants a different post entirely. When I wanted to start a business, I had no ideas and had no plan how to get any ideas. So I decided to observe everything around me, and spend time thinking about what I had observed. By observing what surrounds you, problems that people have and problems that you have will come to you. Then, after finding these problems, usually figuring out a solution is not too hard. After employing this strategy, I was coming up with one or two ideas every day for a period of three weeks, until I found the idea that was the best out of them all. Granted, some of the ideas were already being worked on, and other ideas weren't as useful as I thought they would be. However, six or seven of the ideas were really good, and definitely could have been turned into businesses, though I'm only focusing on one of them. Whenever I had an idea, I would make sure to write it down in a journal or put it in a google document so I would remember it without having to think about the idea until it was needed. You can have the next big idea too, just look at your surroundings with greater focus and think!

My Hopes For This Blog
This is my first blog post ever! I'm not quite sure what's in store for this small piece of the internet, but I hope to write interesting enough things over time that people come to see what I have to say. The blog will probably be a combination of technology/entrepreneurship/life thoughts that I think may be useful or unique. Thanks for stopping by!
